Together we can help make Glastonbury a more beautiful, greener place to live.

Town Center Planters
The reconstruction of Main Street in the late 1990s left the town’s center with several expanses of barren road-side brick. Interested citizens planted the first planters in 2000 to bring color to the brick peninsulas by Daybreak Coffee. Since then the number of Town Center planters has grown to more than 50 that can be found along Main St. and Hebron Ave. Although businesses purchase most of the pots and pay for the annuals, volunteers plant and maintain the planters during the growing season.

We would like to thank these sponsors for helping to make it all possible:
• Country Gardeners of Glastonbury
• Daybreak Coffee
• Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce
• Glastonbury Office Center
• Glastonbury Opticians
• Giovanni’s Brickoven Pizzera
• Law Office of Barbara Wagner
• Pazzo Italian Café
• 63 Hebron Avenue Shops
• Studio Central

A special thanks to Nancy Shipman for planning and ordering the hundreds of annuals that are put into the Town Center containers. We also thank Botticello’s Nursery in Manchester for providing us with quality plants for this projects as well as the plants for Welles-Turner Memorial Library.

During the 5 month growing season GPIP volunteers water, fertilize, trim and dead-head the container plants on a two-week rotation. Then, the more than 25 GPIP volunteers collect, empty and store the planters for the winter. These efforts are greatly appreciated!
