Annual Meeting (1-16-06)GPIP held its annual meeting on Monday January 17, 2006. At the meeting the members elected new officers for two year terms:
Deborah Kent, President Stephen Shipman, Vice President Claude-Evelyne Odiaka, Secretary Roger Winans, Treasurer Members also discussed new projects for the coming year and heard a talk by professional Arborist Chris Lucey. You can read the minutes of the meeting here. Arbor Day planting (4-26-05) On Arbor Day, GPIP volunteers planted two Valley Forge American Elms on Elm Tree Lane. This marks the return of the American Elm to its namesake street. Read more and see pictures... Center Village project (4-11-05) As GPIP grears up to begin creating and planting two garden beds at the Center Village senior housing, we have recieved several donations to aid the project:
Grant Award (2-26-05) The Service Club of Glastonbury has awarded a grant of $1,000 to GPIP for use in out 2005 planting projects. Annual Business Meeting (1-10-05) The Partners in Planting held their seoncd annual business meeting on Monday January 10th. Roger Burr, Nancy Shipman and Edith Kelley were elected to three year terms as Directors. After the annual business portion of the meeting, committee chairs delivered reports on their projects, and the members brain-stormed new projects for the coming year. Grant Award (1-4-05) Late in December, GPIP received some great news! The George H.C. Ensworth Memorial Fund awarded us a $2,000 grant to purchase plants and conduct educational programs. So far, with these funds, we have ordered forty-five trees. When they arrive this spring, GPIP volunteers will plant them in the Town Tree Nursery. After growing in the nursery for two to three years, they will be ready for Town planting projects around Glastonbury. Summer Project Work (9-4-04) August has been a busy time at the traffic islands with two GPIP work days preparing beds for planting. GPIP Receives Non-Profit Status (6-24-04) In a letter from the IRS received today, Partners in Planting received notification that the IRS has approved our non-profit status! This represents a major step forward for GPIP as it enables us to apply for grants and other special funds available only to non-profit organizations. It also means that your donations to GPIP are now tax deductable. Read more GPIP news . . . |
